N8 Cashel/Mitchelstown Road Improvement Scheme ECI

Project Description

The N8 Cashel to Mitchelstown Road Improvement Scheme was the first ECI roads contract undertaken in Ireland. The estimated cost was €300 million for 40km motorway and more than 30 structures.

AGEC’s role as earthworks designer included compiling geotechnical design reports, specification appendices, detailed earthworks drawings and standard construction details. The detailed design included special measures such as karst treatment, localised soft ground treatment, rock bolts and rock trap fences. During construction AGEC provided specialist geotechnical support.

The N8 ECI was completed some 10 months ahead of schedule and opened in July 2008.
