Donegal & Connemara 100 kV Transmission Line

Donegal & Connemara 100 kV Transmission Line

Project Description

The primary objectives of the 110kV projects were to reinforce the electricity transmission and distribution infrastructure throughout the Donegal and Connemara regions in NW and W Ireland.

AGEC was engaged to undertake an assessment of peat stability along various routes proposed for the new 110kV line connecting the proposed stations. The assessment of peat stability along the route included a desk study, walkover survey, peat probing, indicative in-situ testing of the peat and identification of salient terrain features. Based on this this field work, AGEC assessed the potential for peat instability and provided mitigation measures to reduce the likelihood of potential peat instability during construction. This assessment was essential to allow the project to satisfy the planning requirements.
